Since his retirement in 2000, Father Jack has moved from his native Southern Illinois to the Pacific Northwest. He now lives in Olympia WA, where he seriously pursues a life-long fascination with words, and spends a good deal of his time writing. HEAT is the first of his novels in print.
But he also finds time for golf, reading, movies and plays, and has even acted locally in a spring 2003 production of "Much Ado About Nothing" (as the Friar). He is actively seeking voice-over work in order to use talents honed throughout many years of public speaking and acting.
His second mystery, SOLSTICE, brings the protagonist of HEAT to Chicago a few months after the events detailed in that first novel. It is set in cold and dark Chicago just before Christmas, and Father John again brings pastoral healing to a mysterious death.
His third novel, CONNECTIONS, came out in May 2005. It brings a different set of characters to literary life by exploring the three-decade evolution of the relationship between a priest and his bishop and comments on the importance of loving relationships.
CONSPIRACY is Jack Frerker's 4th book, it is the 3rd third mystery novel with Father John, the pastor with many skills. A number of Algoma's young men are hurt and harassed in this mystery novel as it moves from a ghoulish discovery through numerous crimes and deaths before seeing grace ultimately triumph.
His fifth novel is another mystery, MONKSBANE, in which Father John, needing to recover his spiritual balance after the previous book's crimes and deaths in Algoma, goes to an abbey in Washington where more mysteries await him … and grace.
